Unemployed Man Says Faith Stopped Him From Keeping Lost Cash-Filled Wallet

An Atlanta man, who has been unemployed for the past three years, has returned a cash and credit card-filled wallet to its rightful owner.

Rod Garrett found a woman’s wallet containing over $500 in cash, several credit cards and blank checks on a platform bench in Lenox MARTA train station and acted quickly.

"No keys, no cell-phone. Women when they lose their purse it's like they lose a part of them," Garrett told Atlanta’s WXIA.

According to WXIA, the purse’s owner Cyana Gailor said she called her friend and prayed once she realized her purse was lost in her haste to catch the train.

In spite of his own need, Garrett tracked Gailor down and returned her wallet.

Gailor was more than grateful for Garrett’s honesty.

"When I saw the cash my heart did a leap," Gaylor said to WXIA. "That showed me there's still integrity. I kept saying, 'Thank You God!!' You do answer prayers.”

Gailor also said she believes god will reward Garrett for his good deed.

“I know this is the beginning of Rod's blessings," Gailor told the Atlanta news station. "I'm sure God will bless him for doing this."

Garrett has been through a difficult time financially since he lost his car and lost his job as a courier. For the past three years, Garrett has been hunting for work via his bicycle and the Atlanta transit.

Garrett wrote Gailor a letter the day after their chance encounter, explaining his actions. "The money would run out one day," Garrett wrote. "But blessings for the future would never stop."

Although Garrett has not requested a reward, Gailor is currently working to help him find work.
