'Vikings' Season 3 Release Date, Cast Spoilers: Synopsis Gives New Plot Hints for Fans

History has released new details on the upcoming season of "Vikings," and fans and viewers can expect the third season to hit television screens come February 2015 with a whole new set of characters.

"Vikings" season three will come with ten brand new episodes with an official premiere date of Feb. 19, 2015 at 10 p.m. ET. The season will follow former farmer Ragnar, played by Travis Fimmel, as he deals with his new responsibilities as King.

"With the promise of new land from the English, Ragnar leads his people to an uncertain fate on the shores of Wessex. King Ecbert (Linus Roache) has made many promises and it remains to be seen if he will keep them. But ever the restless wanderer, Ragnar is searching for something more … and he finds it in the mythical city of Paris."

"Rumored to be impenetrable to outside forces, Ragnar and his band of Norsemen must come together to break down its walls and cement the Vikings legend in history," it continued.

History also introduced the new cast and characters that will be joining the show.

Kevin Durand plays Harbard, a wanderer that ended up in Kattagat at a time when Ragnar and his men on a raid at a town far away. Queen Aslaug, Helga and Siggy have all dreamt of the man's arrival and will not meet him face-to-face.

Lothaire Bluteau plays Emperor Charles of France, who thinks of battles as "spiritual and earthly" and is described as a troubled and complex but powerful man.

Morgane Polanski plays Princess Gisla, Charles's daughter who is described as full of courage and resolution.

Bob Robson plays Kalf, who is Lagertha's second in command and someone she trusts greatly. However, Kalf actually has hidden motivations and is more calculating and ambitious than even Lagertha expected.
"Vikings" was created by Michael Hirst, who also serves as the show's writer and also as the executive producer alongside Sheila Hockin, Morgan O'Sullivan, Sherry Marsh, John Weber, James Flynn and Alan Gasmer.

The new actors will be joining returning cast members Fimmel, Katheryn Winnick, Alexander Ludwig, Gustaf Skarsgard, Jessalyn Gilsig, Clive Standen, Alyssa Sutherland, George Blagden, Linus Roache and more.
