VMA 2016 News and Rumors: Who Are We Expecting on That Stage? Beyonce and Ariana Grande Among Top Names
There's a reason why the VMA is one of the most sought-after events of the year. You'd think that, for an awards show, people are more inclined to get along for showmanship and sportsmanship.
But luckily for us, there's never been a shortage of drama and entertainment in the MTV-hosted event. It's brought us some really great iconic moments like Miley Cyrus' twerkin'-and-tongue-whippin' or Kanye West stealing Taylor Swift's thunder.
Now, this brings us to this year's VMAs. So far, we know that Future (rapper) will be gracing the stage for the first time alongside VMA veterans Britney Spears, G-Eazy, Nick Jonas, Ty Dolla $ign and Rihanna.
But who else can we expect to turn up this year? Here are some rumors that we hope to be true:
Beyonce
Beyonce is up for crazy 11 awards that night following the immense success of Lemonade, so she might be doing something more than accepting her awards and taking off. Multiple sources have been confirming her appearance and MTV has been teasing her 2003 VMA performance as well.
Frank Ocean and Barbra Streisand
According to reports, both iconic singers will be presenting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award (Rihanna is this year's awardee). That is epic in so many levels, considering Streisand's singing prowess and Frank Ocean dropping the most important album of the year: Blonde.
Ariana Grande
Looks like our favorite "Dangerous Woman" will also be up on that stellar-studded stage alongside "What's Good" 2015 VMA queen, Nicki Minaj! Joining them will be Badlands singer, Halsey, MTV confirms.
Rihanna
Of course, the Video Vanguard Awardee should also be up there performing on the stage...for four times, that is.
Final Five
Yes, you read that right. Looks like music artists are not the only awardees in the house for that night as the Olympic award-winning US Women's Gymnastics Team told ET that they'll be bringing their perfect floor routine at the VMAs!
Kanye West
No, VMAs is never really complete without the Yeezy. We've seen him bumrush Taylor Swift on the stage, make an unreal Video Vanguard acceptance speech - he's made himself the King of this event, and we know it. This year, though, as he's up for Video of the Year for his controversial "Famous" video, he might just take that moment to elbow Taytay a little harder this time.
Adele
ANY occasion with Adele in it is bound to grace us. Adele is up for eight awards that night, only trailing behind Beyonce, so we might see her in action as well.
Excited about this year's VMA? The show, set in New York Madison Square Garden, will air live on Sunday, August 28 at 9 p.m. EST.
