'Warhammer Underwords: Shadespire' Sneak Peek

"Warhammer Underwords: Shadespire" isn't just a brand new title in the Warhammer franchise, it also features a new game-type. The game features fast-paced combat and devious ploys as players pit two warbands against each other in a tactical arena.

Games Workshop has been promising a new game set in the same universe as "Warhammer: Age of Sigmar" following the game's success. It was not until March of this year that "Shadespire" was announced during the GAMA Trade Show in Las Vegas.

Unlike other Games Workshop products, "Shadespire" is relatively easy to set up and play. However, like most Games Workshop products, they are fun to play with simple rules and each game having three rounds with appeals to the casual gamers market.

"Warhammer Underwords: Shadespire" is billed as a quick skirmish boardgame for two players and is seen as an entry-level game for those looking to experience the "Warhammer" universe. The game blends both tabletop strategy and deck-building elements which definitely appeal to those who love to work out the best combinations for maximum kill potential for a fast-paced competitive experience.

Compared to" Warhammer: The Game of Fantasy Battles," "Shadespire" has more in common with board games than wargames particularly in terms of speed. Games are slated to last 30 minutes while a conventional wargame takes closer to 2 1/2 hours in order to complete.

"Shadespire" still features Citadel miniatures which come with the game although these are supplied in pieces and unpainted requiring players to reach into their inner artists. A number custom dice are also included to drive combat as well as 2 Starter Decks. Players can visit the official website for the full list of content as well as to pre-order the game itself.

"Warhammer Underwords: Shadespire" is set to be released on Oct. 21.
