Washington Wizards Injury Rumors 2016: Bradley Beal Has Concussion, Broken Nose

The Washington Wizards will be without one member of the team's dynamic duo after guard Bradley Beal suffered a concussion and a broken nose after a hit to the fact by Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart. With the injury, Beal did not suit up in the Wizards' 106-89 loss to the Toronto Raptors.

The injury happened in the second quarter of Boston's 116-91 victory, where a forearm from Smart hit Beal directly on the face, prompting him to leave the game. He did not return and the team later revealed that he suffered from a concussion.

According to the league's concussion policy, he will be subjected to the mandatory return to participation exertion protocol and will only be cleared to play once again as soon as he no longer shows symptoms of the concussion.

Although the 22-year-old has been playing great and producing 18.5 points a game in the process, he has been battling misfortunes this season. He previously missed a little over a month due to a stress reaction in his lower right fibula. And when he's out, the Wizards have difficulty filling in his averages.

This season alone, Beal has missed 20 games or almost half of the 42 games the Wizards have played so far. The stress reaction on his leg was actually the fourth one in his career. Already a four-year veteran, he just couldn't get the break he deserves, having been injured at least once in every season he's played in the NBA.

The former Florida Gators star was selected third overall by the Wizards in the 2012 NBA Draft. In his sophomore season, Beal became part of the Wizards team that reached the second round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs after beating the Chicago Bulls in the first round. It marked the first time for the franchise to reach the second round since 2005.
