Washington Wizards Injury Rumors: Bradley Beal to Miss at Least Two Weeks with Leg Injury

The Washington Wizards are feeling the pain of losing key players to injuries, and what's really unfortunate is that they're looking at a banged up lineup this early in the season. The latest to get the injury bug is starting two-guard Bradley Beal.

The team announced that Beal is expected to miss at least two weeks after doctors found signs of a stress reaction in his lower right fibula. The announcement, which was made on Saturday, came after the guard went to see a doctor and underwent an MRI. He will be evaluated once again in two weeks to figure out how serious the injury is.

The Wizards are already undermanned, and losing the 22-year-old, even for just a couple of weeks, is a big blow for the team that currently holds a 10-12 record. The worst part of it all is that Beal is averaging a career-high in points this season (19.8). Washington Wizards are in deep trouble in figuring out which player will step in to cover the production of Beal.

Beal, though, isn't new to stress reactions in his leg, having suffered the same with his lower right leg in 2013. The injury caused him to miss several games throughout his career. In November 2013, he had a stress injury in his distal right fibula, followed by another stress injury in his proximal right fibula. The latest was a mild stress reaction in the right fibula, where he missed nine games last season because of it.

Beal is one of the major contributors of the Washington team that relies heavily on its guards. He currently is in the final year of his rookie contract and is due for a big payday. As a matter of fact, he believes he's a max player after turning down a contract extension from the Wizards in the hope of landing a bigger contract elsewhere. But should his injury keep him from playing a full season, it may very well be a cause of concern and doubt from other teams.
