'Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus' Switch Port To Be Worked On Studio Behind 'DOOM' And 'Rocket League' Ports
Good news Nintendo Switch fans because Panic Button will also be handling the conversion of "Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus" for the Nintendo Switch for the hybrid console. The development studio previously worked on the Switch ports for DOOM and Rocket League both of which received the positive reception from fans of both games.
Machine Games' narrative designer Tommy Tordsson Bjork and senior game designer Andreas Öjerfors broke the news of Panic Button's involvement during an interview with Gamereactor at the Fun & Serious conference in Spain.
"It's the same people," said Öjerfors. "They're experts at the Switch and now they're experts with the [id Tech 6] engine so we work with them, and the Doom version turned out to be really kick-ass on the Switch so I think Wolfenstein will be the same."
"Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus" publisher Bethesda has yet to comment regarding the Switch port. However, the fact that the Panic Button already worked on "DOOM" suggests that the publisher has confidence that the studio will do an exceptional job.
In addition to its games, Öjerfors also talked about virtual reality technology. While he didn't reveal any plans in making the action-adventure shooter into a VR experience at the moment, he did say that they are interested in experimenting with the technology to create a physical sense of being in the game's world.
"Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus" was first announced at last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. The game was first released in October 2016 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One and received generally favourable reviews from critics and gamers alike.
Described as a "vicious, affecting, witty, spaced-out, crude, inventive, morbid and for the most part, a success," and "slick shooting, plenty of spectacle, and heaps of fun characters to interact with," the game's Nintendo Switch port is set to be released globally next year.
