Woman Who Tipped Off on Lying Juror is Hernandez's Erotic Pen Pal, Says Prosecution

The anonymous woman who tipped off the defense to a lying juror was described as Aaron Hernandez's erotic pen pal, prosecutors said.

Based on a court filing Monday, Bristol County Assistant District Prosecutor William McCauley said the tipster who pointed out that one of the juror's was lying had been having an "ongoing sexually explicit relationship" with Hernandez even before his murder trial.

McCauley questioned the as-yet-unnamed woman's credibility after she sent a tip in April just after the jury had returned with its guilty verdict, alleging that a jury member who had voted to convict the former NFL player for first-degree murder, was lying.

Hernandez's attorneys were able to identify the woman, who had contacted them from a blocked mobile phone number. They have also petitioned the court to impel the woman to testify under oath as to her allegations the juror she indicated had knowledge the former tight end for the New England Patriots faced other murder charges in a Boston drive-by shooting incident in 2012, but did not reveal that information during the jury selection process for the first trial that took place in Fall River, Massachusetts.

Disclosing that knowledge during the first jury selection would have disqualified that juror from serving.

The tipster's name has not been released publicly, but she has been referred to as "Katy," prosecution documents say.

Hernandez and Katy's father were both inmates at the Dartmouth, Massachusetts Bristol County Jail and House of Correction where the former football player was incarcerated after his June 2013 arrest for the murder of Odin Lloyd, a linebacker for the semi-professional Boston Bandits.

In their court petition, Hernandez's defense lawyer, James Sultan, maintained that questioning "Katy" under oath would shed more light on the allegations, which, if proven valid, could be useful in attempting to overturn the conviction, despite the tipster's "extensive personal contact" with Hernandez raising the issue of her credibility.
