WWE Rumors: Shield Reunion On The Horizon?
Rumors and speculation can be just as entertaining to WWE fans, save perhaps, an actual wrestling match. And the latest of these involves Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins also known as "The Shield," specifically their reunion as a team.
Since their debut back in November 2012 at the Survivor Series pay-per-view, the professional wrestling stable was a dominant force in six-man tag team matches. This was highlighted when they went on an undefeated televised streak lasting from December 2012 to May 2013 including a victory at WrestleMania 29.
The group was dissolved in 2014 with Rollins being the first to leave the group on June 2, 2014, after he attacked Ambrose and Reigns and siding with The Authority. The members went on to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship multiple times proving themselves to be formidable athletes despite the dissolution of their group.
However, fans still yearned for the glory days of Shield where they stood defiantly over everything The Authority threw at them. However, it was perhaps the excellent teamwork and a willingness to sacrifice themselves as an individual for the good of the team that made them so popular with wrestling fans.
Fans might just get that reunion they have been waiting for at TLC next month. This is according to Pro Wrestling Sheet's James McKenna who said that the move is apparently to boost ticket sales.
With a Miz TV set-up at No Mercy this week, this could provide the angle for a PPV match between The Shield and The Miztourage. Of course, this is still up to the management to decide so fans should take this rumor with a grain salt.
It would be nice to see Rollins, Ambrose, and Reigns put aside their differences and team up even for just one night. The clockwork-like efficiency of the Shield was definitely something rare in the pro-wrestling scene and probably comes along once in a decade.
