'X-Men: Apocalypse' Cast News: James McAvoy Open to Doing More X-Men Films

"X-Men: Apocalypse" star James McAvoy, who has played the part of the young Charles Xavier/Professor X in the X-Men film franchise since 2011's "X-Men: First Class," has confirmed that he will return for more X-Men films if asked to.

With the premiere of the hotly anticipated "X-Men: Apocalypse" just over a month away, fans are now speculating on how the addition of new characters will affect the future of the franchise. And with "X-Men: Apocalypse" stars Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and James McAvoy reportedly up for contract renegotiations, it seems that future X-Men films will be populated by new faces more than familiar ones.

Fortunately, McAvoy recently told French magazine L'internaute that he is open to appearing in more X-Men films.

"If they want me to, I'll do more, yeah," the actor said.

McAvoy also spoke about his co-star Lawrence, who plays the role of Raven Darkhölme/Mystique, and said that the actress had told him that she is thinking of re-appearing in the franchise as well.

Lawrence, who has previously said that she will leave the film series after "Apocalypse," seems to have recently had a change of heart, telling Empire in March, "I am dying to come back."

"I love these movies, I love being in them," the actress said. "I love ensemble movies because it's not on anyone's shoulders."

"She's always said to me that she would think about it," McAvoy told L'internaute. "So yeah, that sounds great. I hope she does, because I love working with Jennifer. You know, we've been like an extended sort of family, in a weird way, for six or seven years now."

"I'd be really sad not to see her every couple of years," the actor added.

Joining McAvoy and Lawrence in the latest X-Men ensemble are Fassbender (Magneto), Hoult (Beast), Oscar Isaac (new villain Apocalypse), Evan Peters (Quicksilver), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Olivia Munn (Psylocke), Ben Hardy (Angel), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Lucas Till (Havok), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler), and Lana Condor (Jubilee).

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is in theaters May 27.
