Xiaomi Mi 4C release date to come earlier than expected

The release date of Xiaomi Mi 4C could come earlier than expected after the Chinese smartphone maker recently released its Redmi Note 2 and has been rumored to launch a new unit in October or November.

Xiaomi will reportedly release the Mi 4C on Sept. 22, a device that is expected to target the budget-conscious smartphone customers all over the world. Based on its earlier patterns, the Chinese tech firm could first state a Mi 4C launch in China before it rolls out the device to other countries, according to the International Business Times (IBT) UK.

Earlier rumors suggested that the Xiaomi Mi 4C would have above-average specs to complement its low cost. The upcoming device will also boast of a 5-inch screen and run a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC processor, the report details.

Other rumored features of the Xiaomi Mi 4C include 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage options, and storage expansion via microSD card slot.

Meanwhile, a new Xiaomi device recently passed TENAA certification and another one was benchmarked by AnTuTu. Reports say the former is the Mi 4C. The phone that was Antutu certified has a 5-inch display, Snapdragon 808 SoC processor, and runs the Android 5.1.1 mobile OS. It also has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, much like the rumored specs of the Mi 4C, the report relays.

Aside from the aforementioned specs and features, the Xiaomi Mi 4C will also come with a USB Type-C port and an infrared port. However, the latter will only be for security purposes, Vine Report states.

The Xiaomi Mi 4C is expected to sport a 13-megapixel rear snapper and a 5-megapixel front camera. It will also be powered by a 3,080 mAh battery. Xiaomi's MIUI 7 OS will run on top of Google's Android Lollipop, the report adds.

While the IBT says Xiaomi Mi 4C will be released on Sept. 22, there are also reports that it will be unveiled on Sept. 24 and will start selling on Oct. 3. The Chinese firm will initially release only 100,000 units of the Mi 4C, which is expected to cost between $200 and $220.
