Reports say that the company have delayed the release of the handset to wait for the release of Qualcomm's latest processor. It was supposed to come out in Q3 2015 but since the chipset isn't coming until February, Xiaomi opted to postpone launching plans.

Meanwhile, as noted in Phone Arena, co-founder and VP of Xiaomi Liwan Jiang updated the fans through his personal Weibo account.

"The Xiaomi Mi 5 with the latest Snapdragon 820 processor is ready and in volume production. It will be released after the Spring Festival to have enough time for stocking up," wrote Jiang.

The chipset will be paired with 4 GB of RAM and an internal storage capacity of 16 GB. The device is expected to come with other internal storage variants though. As for the camera specs, the device is said to feature a 16-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera. A 3,600 mAh battery is expected, as well as a fingerprint scanner that will be located into the physical home button. The Mi 5 smartphone will run with Android 5.1 Lollipop alongside Xiaomi's MIUI 7 OS.

The listing did not reveal any price yet so fans will have to watch out for more updates.
