'You're the Worst' Season 3 Update: Premiere Episode To Pick Up Right After Finale Episode, Sunday Funday To Return
American single-camera comedy series "You're the Worst" is returning to the small screen soon as it has already been confirmed that the show will return for season 3. According to IGN, the writers of the show created by Stephen Falk are still in the middle of writing for the third season but the upcoming season's arc for the show's main characters has already been mapped out and Falk was kind enough to share a little bit of what's to come in the series.
As noted in Entertainment Weekly, Falk revealed a few pieces about the third season during the 2016 Television Critics Association winter press tour. He said that the third installment of the series will pick up immediately after the events of the season 2 finale episode titled "The Heart is a Dumb Dumb." In that episode, Jimmy (Chris Geere) and Gretchen (Aya Cash) declared their love for each other.
"Right now we will start season three literally right after that scene [where Gretchen tells Jimmy she loves him]. I think time jumps are useful for certain shows, but it feels like a later season thing when you want to mix stuff up," said Falk. "We thought it would be interesting to start with 'I love you' and literally see what happens when they walk back into the house," he added.

The Hollywood Reporter also noted that Falk said that they want to tell one cohesive story per season that carries on from last season. He also shared that they are trying not to top the upcoming season in terms of some of the issues that the characters are going through such as Gretchen's depression.
As for the other characters, Lindsay's (Kether Donohue) story will also pick up right after learning that she is pregnant with Paul's (Allan McLeod) baby. She will be momentarily back with Paul but the question is how long will the two be together? Meanwhile, Edgar (Desmin Borges) and his girlfriend Dorothy (Collete Wolfe) decided to continue dating even though the two are not ready to live together yet.
In another note, the show's signature Sunday Funday may be happening again in the third season as Falk has confirmed a "tentative yes" to it. "You're the Worst" season 3 is slated to return in summer.
