'Apostles of Comedy' Set Off on 2nd Nat'l Tour

Christian comics Jeff Allen, Brad Stine, Ron Pearson and Anthony Griffith are taking the stage together for a second national tour, which launched Sunday.

With a mission beyond laughs per minute, the "Apostles of Comedy" kicked off their tour Sunday in Surprise, Ariz., and have over 25 shows in 14 states lined up.

"They want to reach into people's hearts and souls," testified Mitchell Galin, producer of "Apostles of Comedy: The Movie," which released late last year on DVD.

The latest tour follows the group of four's 12-city tour last year, when they set off in support of "Apostles of Comedy: The Movie."

The Fall 2008 tour received rave reviews from Christian and secular audiences and media outlets throughout the country, proving that good comedy can be clean and free of crude themes – something some in the industry find hard to do.

"We had a great turnout and the comics were hilarious, professional guys who left everyone buzzing after the show," said Bob Thornton, program director for 100.9 KXOJ in Tulsa, Okla.

"There is an audience who wants this type of entertainment and we look forward to bringing [them] back very soon," he added.

Lowell MacGregor of the CCM concert promoting Lowell MacGregor Group, meanwhile, called the show "a breath of fresh air."

"We at LMG, and our partners in the markets around the Pacific Northwest, are excited about the opportunity to present the Apostles of Comedy in Eugene, Portland, Seattle and Spokane," MacGregor said. "We are thrilled to have a new, creative, fun family friendly show to promote, that will allow us the opportunity to build creative promotions around. Our hats are off to everyone involved in putting this show on the road and especially John Huie and C.A.A. for trying something new."

The latest tour will run until the end of May and is presented by World Vision, a Christian humanitarian charity organization that serves close to 100 million people in nearly 100 countries around the world.

To date, the "Apostles of Comedy" have helped secure over 300 sponsorships for disadvantaged children.
