Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is currently defending his country during the Russian invasion, said there is no excuse for Abe's assassination.

"Horrible news of a brutal assassination of former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe," he tweeted. "I am extending my deepest condolences to his family and the people of Japan at this difficult time."
