2016 Chevrolet COPO Camaro Unveiled in Las Vegas During SEMA Show
The 2016 Chevrolet COPO Camaro was finally unveiled during a media event ahead of the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
Chevrolet will build 69 limited-edition 2016 COPO Camaros for the NHRA Super Stock and Stock Eliminator contest next year. The 2016 Chevrolet COPO Camaro weighs 133 pounds less compared with its predecessor, but is 28 percent stronger due to its more rigid chassis, according to Dragzine.
The 2016 Chevrolet COPO Camaro featured at the SEMA show is painted with hot red and features Courtney Force graphics on the flanks with red-accented grille trim. Under the hood, the new race car boasts of a 350 cubic-inch motor and a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger.

The new Chevvy will be available in three variants with different combinations of supercharged and naturally aspirated engines. The options will include a 5.7-liter and 7.0-liter LS-series small-block V8s, and a 6.2-liter V8. The car will only be available in three-speed automatic transmission, Digital Trends reports.
Aside from that, the car has lightweight and adjustable strut-type suspension in front, four-link rear suspension featuring adjustable coil-overs, and lightweight and racing-type four-wheel disc brakes. Other details of the 2016 Chevrolet COPO Camaro include unique racing wire harness, fuel cell with built-in high-pressure fuel pump, and unassisted rack-and-pinion steering system, the report details.
The first COPO Camaros were famous in the 1960s as a muscle car, but today those are already expensive collectors' items. Chevrolet first revived the COPO in 2012 for drag racers, and the company has only released a few units every year. The COPO Camaro has been a known fixture in the NHRA drag racing.
