2016 Chevrolet Volt Available at Discounted Price in California
The 2016 Chevrolet Volt is now available at a discounted price in California and later in selected U.S. locations — an initiative that General Motors (GM) implemented to ensure the new vehicle sells fast.
General Motors is now offering discounts up to $1,000 for the 2016 Chevrolet Volt until Nov. 2 in California, where the second-generation model will go on sale first. The offer will later on be rolled out to Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Oregon, Vermont, and Rhode Island, according to the Master Herald.
GM's offer was originally slated for all 11 states, but the latest update says California will be the only destination of the 2016 Chevrolet Volt for now. The schedule for its availability in other states will be announced early next year, the report adds.

In the mean time, buyers of the 2016 Chevrolet Volt in California can get another $500 slashed off from the original price if they are able to convince a non GM-car owner to purchase the new Volt. But that's not all because they also get to enjoy the $7,500 incentive from the federal government, plus tax breaks from other states, the Auto Blog reports.
Those who want to buy the 2015 Chevrolet Volt get to enjoy a $2,500 discount from the present purchase price, the report adds.
The second-generation Volt comes with a 53-mile all-electric range, which is 15 miles more than what the first Volt offers. It has a 1.5-liter I-4 engine with direct injection and a maximum speed of 5,600 rpm. Among the most interesting things about the sedan are its foldable rear seats that can be adjusted to a position almost parallel to the floor to provide more storage.
The 2016 Volt is part of GM's bid to compensate for the low sales of the original model. The new hybrid car is set to compete with other similar cars including the Nissan Leaf, Toyota Prius, and the all-electric Tesla Model S sedan, which will be rolled out across the whole country.
The 2016 Chevrolet Volt comes with a price tag of $33,995, a price that is almost a thousand bucks cheaper compared to that of the previous model.
