4. California residents reject sports betting
California voters weighed in on two measures that would establish sports betting both in-person and online. With 47% of the expected vote reporting, 69% of California voters rejected a proposition that would allow in-person sports betting at tribal casinos and licensed racetracks.
An even more substantial majority of Californians rejected a measure that would allow online sports betting in the state. With 47% of the vote counted, 83.1% of voters in the state said “no” when asked if they wanted to permit tribes and gambling companies to offer online and mobile sports betting.
