5 highlights from the Hunter Biden hearings
Marjorie Taylor Greene shared sexually explicit photos of Hunter Biden
While the House Judiciary Committee collected testimony behind closed doors, the House Oversight Committee held a televised hearing Wednesday with Internal Revenue Service whistleblowers who came forward to allege interference by the executive branch in investigations of wrongdoing centered around Hunter Biden.
At the hearing, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., shared several sexually explicit photos as she probed IRS Whistleblower Joseph Ziegler about whether or not Hunter Biden violated federal law by allegedly paying for prostitutes to travel across state lines to engage in sexual activity.
On Friday, an attorney for Hunter Biden filed an ethics complaint against Greene to the Office of Congressional Ethics, claiming that Greene violated House Ethics rules and standards of official conduct.
After presenting bank records from Suspicious Activity Reports in connection with an investigation opened into Hunter Biden in November 2018, Greene showed explicit pictures of an alleged prostitute the president's son flew from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., in June 2018 as she continued to ask Ziegler whether he thought the actions violated federal law.
Greene also showed pictures of the woman and Hunter Biden engaging in sexual activity, with black bars blocking out genitalia and buttocks.
Additionally, Greene showed an excerpt of a Suspicious Activity Report purporting to show that Hunter Biden paid the woman through his law firm, referring to her as a "new hire."
The final set of pictures shared by Greene, which also showed the younger Biden engaging in sexual activity, was accompanied by a caption: "Hunter recorded multiple sex tapes with a prostitute he had paid for out of his law firm's bank account."
Greene's presentation drew criticism from Democrats. Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., told The Washington Post that her display was "completely irrelevant" and "did not advance in any way the putative objective of the hearing."
