3. Pastor Robert Jeffress: Remember, God is sovereign

Pastor Jeffress’ First Baptist Church of Dallas announced that it will be having Sunday School and worship services on Sunday at its normal times while “taking the steps necessary to comply with the requirements” of Dallas County health officials regarding community gatherings.

Quoting 2 Timothy 1:7, which reads, “[He] has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and of a sound mind,” the megachurch pastor reminded members that God is sovereign and remains in control of all our circumstances.

The church said on its website that it is “committed to exercising wisdom, discernment, prudence, and caution as we move forward together,” and quoted Philippians 4:6, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.”

First Baptist also clarified that no one associated with the church has tested positive for COVID-19, but “we have proactively taken additional steps to minimize any risk to our church family.”

“For example, in recent weeks, we increased our already stringent cleaning and sanitization efforts throughout the entire campus. We are discouraging direct physical contact (i.e., shaking hands), and continue providing hand sanitizer throughout our campus,” the church explained.
