89 Percent of iPhone Users Will Remain Loyal to Apple

A survey has found that a massive 89 percent of iPhone users will continue to buy Apple products in the future.

UBS Investment Research polled 515 users of various popular electronics brands, described as "international high-end consumers." The survey found that Apple users are the most likely to stay loyal to their brand, not only with their smartphones but with their computers and tablets as well.

"Demand for iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro remains robust, with a leading ecosystem that creates sticky demand," UBS told Apple Insider.

After the iPhone, HTC handsets had the second highest retention rate at 39 percent.

Third was RIMM with a 33 percent retention rate, however the company has seen a large drop in demand of their products, from a 62 percent retention rate just 18 months ago.

Fourth was Samsung with a 28 percent retention rate.

Motorola came in fifth with 25 percent of users remaining loyal and Nokia was last with at 24 percent.

In conjunction with actual handsets, 55 percent of Android OS users said they would purchase another Android product for their next phone.

However, 31 percent of Android users admitted that they would switch from Android to Apple for their next phone.

Overall, over 50 percent of those polled said they plan to switch from their current phone to an iPhone. Just 10 percent of users stated that they plan to switch from the iPhone to another brand.

The iPhone continues to be in especially high demand with its latest generation, the iPhone 5 scheduled to release sometime in October. Apple is hosting a conference on October 4 where the iPhone 5 is expected to be unveiled.

Recently, TechRadar did a poll that named the Samsung Galaxy S2 with as the most desired smartphone with 47 percent out of 5,391. The iPhone 4 came in second with 23 percent. The HTC Sensation came in third with 11 percent.
