Ann Curry Begs NBC to Let Her Go

Ann Curry is reportedly begging NBC to let her out of her contract and let her go to work for another network. Curry has been with NBC for years but now wants to accept an offer from Jeff Zucker and CNN.

"Ann wants out of her contract, big time. She has formally asked her attorney to explore exit options from the network. However, NBC bosses have indicated they are unwilling to release Ann from the contract. If Ann were to just quit, there is a non-compete clause, which would prohibit her from working for another news outlet for two years," a source close to Curry told Radar Online.

Curry was once co-anchor of the popular "Today" show with Matt Lauer but was fired with little explanation. She has since only been on NBC to do assignments, but she is reportedly eager to get back on a regular program. The "Today" show has seen lower ratings since Curry's departure, even Matt Lauer still functions as a staple for the morning show.

Zucker reportedly has the idea to put Curry in a new show at CNN's 8 p.m. time slot, currently held by Anderson Cooper. It would be a ratings boost for CNN and a win for Curry, who is allegedly ready to go.

"The show lost more viewers after Ann departed the show," the source explained. "As long as Ann remains at NBC, it will be a constant reminder to everyone of how badly the situation was handled. It would be so much better for NBC, Ann, and CNN if she was let out of her contract. It would be a new beginning and a chance for all parties involved to move on, once and for all."

If worse comes to worse, Curry is preparing to work with lawyers in order to end her relationship with NBC, Radar reported.

"Ann's lawyer feels that there is a very strong case to be made that NBC has breached terms of the deal because Curry was demoted from 'Today,'" the insider revealed.
