The 2009 Confederations Cup, was arguably his greatest success as international coach, when his team beat European and World Champions Spain 2-0 in the Semi-Finals, before finally being beaten by Brazil in the Final.

Despite his achievements frequent criticism of Bradley’s tactics and management skills emerged. He was often criticized for not being attacking enough tactically, and also courted controversy when he allegedly favored picking son Michael above others in the squad.

U.S Soccer President said taking the decision to sack Bradley was a difficult one, and especially when the decision involved someone “we respect as much as Bob.”

Gulati thanked Bradley for his service and dedication over the past five years and “wished him the best in his future endeavors.”

Bradley’s replacement has not yet been named.
