'Boycott Kardashians' Petition Sparks Death Threats
The woman who started the "No More Kardashian" petition, which is asking the E! network to pull the plug on its popular reality shows featuring the Kardashian family, said she's been receiving death threats.
Cyndy Snider, a 41-year old Colorado-native who started the online petition earlier this month that has garnered more than 100,000 signatures, told CBS Denver in a recent interview that she has received some serious backlash from fans of the Kardashian clan.
"I’ve had death threats," Snider said. "That’s been my latest, in the past two days I’ve had death threats … over the Kardashians, and I’m a Kim hater."

Snider said she is not petitioning against the Kardashians per se, but rather, the producers and developers that put their shows on the air.
"We feel that these shows are mostly staged and place an emphasis on vanity, greed, promiscuity, vulgarity and over-the-top conspicuous consumption," she explained in a statement. "While some may have begun watching the spectacle as mindless entertainment or as a sort of 'reality satire,' it is a sad truth that many young people are looking up to this family and are modeling their appearance and behavior after them. I'll remind you here that the Kardashian family fame largely started with a 'leaked' sex tape."
While many obviously agree with Snider's sentiment, others feel the Kardashian reality shows are no more "over-the-top" than any other popular television programs.
"What about this emphasis on vanity, greed, over-the-top conspicuous consumption?" asked ABC's The View co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck. "What is necessarily left when you go through the shows now? I mean, any show could be judged based on this criteria."
Some feel that the public should simply not watch the shows if it does not like what is being portrayed.
"Cyndy Snider should ask herself what the Kardashians have ever done to her," wrote one commenter on Hollywoodreporter.com. "She doesn't know them nor will she ever know them. Watching them, reading about them or buying their products is optional. No one is forcing the Kardashians on anyone. Change the channel and walk away."
