Christian Movie 'Alone Yet Not Alone' Has Best Original Song Oscar Nomination Revoked (VIDEO)

Credit :

Earlier this month, we told you about the shocking Oscar nomination of the song "Alone Yet Not Alone," from the Christian movie of the same name, for Best Original Song. In just as stunning fashion, the underdog song has had its nomination for an Academy Award revoked.

The song's composer Bruce Broughton is no stranger to awards' season, having won 10 Emmys and receiving an Oscar nomination for Best Original Music Score for "Silverado." He also served as governor of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, the organization that runs the Oscars.

According to the Academy's board of governors, Broughton emailed members to campaign for the song's nomination, a violation of the rules.

"It is the Academy's goal to ensure that the Awards competition is conducted in a fair and ethical manner," the Academy said in a statement.

"If any campaign activity is determined by the board of governors to work in opposition to that goal, whether or not anticipated by these regulations, the Board of Governors may take any corrective actions."

Broughton told The Hollywood Reporter, "I'm devastated. I indulged in the simplest grassroots campaign and it went against me when the song started getting attention. I got taken down by competition that had months of promotion and advertising behind them. I simply asked people to find the song and consider it."

The nomination will not be given to another song.
