Christmas Day Inferno: Madonna Badger Attempts Suicide After Losing 3 Daughters

Madonna Badger, the mother of three young girls killed in a Christmas day inferno, recently attempted to take her own life.

The mourning mother, consumed with grief and unable to cope with her tragic loss, was rushed to hospital last Thursday after harming herself, according to
The New York Daily News.

"She is okay ... she is out (of the hospital) and somewhere safe. It's just terrible, nobody could really hold up well under the circumstances," a relative told the Daily News.

Earlier this month The Christian Post reported that Matthew and Madonna Badger were joined by hundreds of mourners at a Manhattan church to say their final goodbyes to twins Lily and Grace, 7, and Sarah, 10, after they were killed in a Connecticut house fire on Christmas day.

Madonna, 47, a renowned name in the New York fashion world, survived the deadly blaze along with boyfriend Michael Borcina, although she had helplessly tried to save her girls.

"Mom and her male friend were trying desperately to get to the children's bedrooms," Stamford Police Sgt. Paul Guzda told ABC News.

"They were trying to break windows. Mom was actually up on a roof that extends from the house, trying to break the window," Guzda added.

Madonna's parents, Lomer and Pauline Johnson, were also killed in the fire, and it is believed they were laid to rest shortly after the three girls.

New information suggests that Madonna's five bedroom home recently had its smoke detectors removed by contractors who were in the process of renovating the $1.7 million Stamford manor.

According to sources the contractors are currently being investigated, and criminal charges could be filed based on negligence even though police have ruled out any foul play.

It has been reported that burning embers ignited flames which ultimately caused the house fire.

The official cause of death was reportedly smoke inhalation, which both Madonna and Borcina were also treated for.
