CP World Report: Palestinian UN Status Granted, Egypt, North Korea Missile
The United Nations has voted overwhelmingly to recognize a Palestinian state. The resolution has upgraded the Palestinians' status to a non-member observer state at the United Nations . A Palestinian flag was immediately raised at the UN. In the West Bank city of Ramallah, hundreds crowded into the main square waved Palestinian flags and chanted "God is great." The U.S. immediately criticized the historic vote. Israel and Canada also voted against the resolution. After the vote, Israeli Prime Minsiter Netanyahu said the U.N move violated past agreements between Israel and the Palestinians and that Israel would act accordingly. He did not elaborate.
The political upheaval in Egypt shows no sign of easing. Protests continued through the night in Cairo's Tahrir square. Demonstrators demanded that President Mohamed Morsi rescind a decree extending his powers. And the Muslim Brotherhood is planning nationwide rallies Saturday in support of Morsi and the decree. Egypt's Highest Appeals Court has now suspended its work until the decree is rescinded. And in a surprise development, the council drafting a new constitution said its work was nearly complete.
U-S intelligence is keeping a very close eye on a North Korean site... Where a flurry of activity suggests a long-range missile launch could be in the works. That would be a blatant violation of U.N. resolutions. Barbara Starr reports.

A 16-year-old Christian teenager was one of the winners of the Tony Blair Faith Foundation's film competition, "Faith Shorts". Charles Flamiano travelled with his father all the way from the Philippines, to attend the red carpet award night in London this week. It was the first time he and his father had ever left the Philippines. Charles won the 14-17 age category with his film "Letting Go, Letting God", which tells of how faith can be a source of strength in difficult times. The annual competition challenges young film-makers to produce three-minute films answering the brief challenge: "Let me show you how my faith inspires me".The panel of judges included Tony Blair, Hugh Jackman, Lord Puttnam and Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks.
