'Cuphead' News: Xbox Head Phil Spencer Hasn't Beaten The Game And He's Not Alone
"Cuphead," the seemingly innocent-looking game has been the topic of discussion lately for its alleged "difficulty" rivaling the likes of the infamous "Dark Souls" franchise. Among those who are having trouble completing the game is Xbox head Phil Spencer, although he has a pretty good reason not to get upset about it.
As the Executive Vice President of Gaming, Spencer had a major role in bringing the critically acclaimed platformer to the Xbox One and PC as an exclusive for Microsoft. And one of the perks of his position is getting to play games before they are released to the public.
However, two weeks after its release, Spencer has yet to finish the retail version of the game. However, he isn't too upset though as "Cuphead" is selling "very well," although he didn't go as far as to reveal the games' sales numbers.
But while Spencer isn't really salty about not finishing "Cuphead," some gamers are and some of those gamers also happen to be game journalists who then wrote articles highlighting the game's challenging nature. Fans of the game were very disappointed, accusing the journalists of "sucking" at the game and therefore unable to give an objective review of the game.
The journalists' case isn't helped by the playthrough videos posted online. One particular video of a journalist failing the game's tutorial over and over again was repeatedly ridiculed on the video's comment section as well as other Youtubers.
But love it or hate it, there's no denying that the platform is a massive success. Since its release two weeks ago, the game has sold over two million copies which is probably why Phil Spencer is elated. The fact that "Cuphead" is exclusive to the Xbox One and PC means that the PlayStation 4 won't be getting it anytime soon.
