Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls sold 2.7 million copies in its first week out since launching on both Windows PC and Mac, announced Blizzard.

The game arrived on March 25, and these astounding sales numbers include both digital and physical copies of the game.

"With Reaper of Souls, we wanted to emphasize all the things that Diablo gamers have always loved about the series, from the dark gothic setting to the piles and piles of epic loot," Blizzard CEO and cofounder Mike Morhaime said in a press statement. "We're excited to see that players are enjoying the changes we've made to the game, and we look forward to achieving our Paragon levels alongside everyone else in the weeks and months ahead."

Recently it was announced Diablo 3 is being developed for both the PS4 and Xbox One.

According to IGN, only the PS4 version of the game has a set release date and an official confirmation. However, the game was hinted at for the Xbox One, although not confirmed.

"I can't confirm it at this point, as I don't have a release date, at all for that," said Alex Mayberry, the game's lead producer, to IGN. "The way we develop, it's as if there will be an Xbox One version, but until it's announced there's nothing official."

He continued on and said Diablo 3 may arrive sooner than anticipated for the PS4.

"It's being worked on," he said. "I don't have any release dates to announce, but it's not far behind. They kind of have to wait for the PC side to wrap before they can completely finish, but they've been in parallel development with us the whole time. As we developed on the PS, they pulled it into the console version and then they make it work. It won't be long, but I can't give an exact date as we still need to go through certifications."
