Eli Manning's Teammates Poke Fun At 'SNL' Performance

Eli Manning, star quarterback of the New York Giants, has received quite the razzing from his fellow teammates regarding his recent hosting of the comedy sketch show "Saturday Night Live."

Manning, who hosted the show this past Saturday, appeared in an array of hilarious and borderline embarrassing sketches, including one in which he donned a bright yellow dress and blonde wig, and another "sexting" sketch in which he posed in a picture while holding a banana.

As the Larry Brown Sports blog reports, Manning was greeted at the Giants practice facility Monday by laughing teammates. Some threw bananas at the 31-year-old quarterback, while others told him he "looks good in a dress."

Manning is the 35th NFL player to host the comedy sketch show, which airs live every Saturday from New York City.

There were mixed reviews on Manning's performance, with some saying he struggled with his joke delivery and spoke over audience applause.

In an opinion piece for The Huffington Post, Brad Gagnon gave the athlete a score of five out of 10 for his monologue, saying that although he struggled at the beginning, he loosened up later on.

Larry Brown wrote in a separate blog post that "overall, it was a strong performance by the Giants quarterback," saying that Manning's "Little Brothers" sketch, in which he leads little brothers in defending themselves against the torment of their older siblings, was especially funny.

The New York Post also gave Manning a good review, saying he was able to muster the same confidence he shows on the field for the camera: "Looking as confident as he does on the gridiron, Eli Manning wasn't afraid to get done up in drag as 'Miss Chicken-Fried Steak' or don a long blonde wig and grungy hippy garb in a sketch about Occupy Wall Street."

Manning is the son of former NFL quarterback Archie Manning and the younger brother of Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning.
