Father Frank Pavone Urges Voters to Support Life This Election

Candidates Should 'Clean Up Their Act Regarding Defending Life,' Says Priest

A prominent pro-life advocate is calling on all people of faith to follow their hearts and conscience with their vote for the November elections and support those who choose to support life.

Father Frank Pavone, president of Priests for Life, urged followers of Christ to vote to support life in an article that was published on LifeNews.com.

"If public servants cannot tell the difference between serving the public and killing the public, they don't belong in public office," Pavone wrote.

"How can anyone make the case that we can tolerate [abortion] while we work with the candidate on 'social' programs? The heart of what is 'social' is that it respects the other person," he added.

Povone's comments come during a political season in which there have been heated debates regarding abortion; specifically, many discuss whether there are any instances where the unborn child should not be the first priority when considering life.

There have been several controversial comments and positions made on both sides of the political spectrum related to the choice people have over whether or not to keep a child who is yet to be born.

Republican Rep. Todd Akin spurred one of the sharpest reactions when during an interview he explained that women of "legitimate rape" have a way "to try and shut that whole thing down."

His comments made national headlines and were condemned by both Republicans and Democrats.

During the Democratic convention, the party's platform was scrutinized after it was discovered to support taxpayer funded abortions for women for any reason.

"The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman's right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay," according to the party's platform.

Pavone offers some strong words to those who may feel conflicted about supporting a candidate they like who does not value life as they do.

"Tell your favorite candidate or party to get the babies' blood off their hands and clean up their act regarding defending life," Pavone wrote.
