'Final Fantasy 7 Remake' Update: Square Enix Producer Reveals Game Not Coming in 2016

Those who have been waiting for the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" will need to lengthen their patience as the game's arrival may be one year from now. According to a report by Techno Buffalo, Square Enix's Yoshinori Kitase said in the latest issue of Famitsu Magazine that the game is currently still in development for PlayStation 4.

But it may not be coming anytime soon this year as he said that this time will be allocated for preparations and planning.

"I believe that this year will still be a year of preparations for Final Fantasy 7 Remake," Kitase told Famitsu. "I'd like to create a new kind of value for the hardware that is the PlayStation 4 for our next announcement."

Kitase's statement may seem indirect but Game Rant suggested that his comment implies a 2017 release for the game. It may even be in the first quarter so that Square Enix can put some spaces in between the dates of the release of all three planned episodes throughout the next year.

The report also noted that Kitase may just be underselling the development of the game so that fans will not have high expectations yet. After all, he did not detail how far along the game is in its progress. But then again, with "Final Fantasy 15" due to launch soon, the team may just be shying away from the spotlight for now to focus on what's scheduled to come this year.

The "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" was first revealed during the E3 2015 and along with it was a reveal trailer that gave fans a glimpse of what to expect in the game. Latin Post detailed that the remake will be making use of Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4 for the creation and development of the game. It's also teased to feature full voice acting including dating events.

As of now, "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" has no release date but it is said to come first to the PlayStation 4. There is no word though if it will be made available for other platforms.
