Florida Doctor Claims to be 'Spiritual Guide' to Joran Van Der Sloot
A Florida-based doctor has become so fond of Joran van der Sloot that she sends the confessed murderer care packages and maintains regular contact.
Dr. Mary Hamer, a divorced radiologist, insists her feelings for van der Sloot are not of a sexual nature and that she is simply protective of him.
The 55-year-old became intrigued after learning 24-year-old van der Sloot, who remains the prime suspect in the Natalee Holloway disappearance, was jailed in Peru for the murder of Stephanie Flores, according to Mail Online.

"I come every six months. I will come for the rest of my life. I have even told Joran I will move here," she told Newsweek.
Hamer has reportedly been visiting Van der Sloot in a Peruvian jail for more than a year and considers herself his “guardian angel.”
"I will tell them (Peruvian authorities) I will move into that prison and live with him, because I am committed," Hamer said.
Hamer believes van der Sloot is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress and insists on helping him by counseling him and sending care packages.
The packages contain clothing and even books on spirituality.
Hamer has described herself as the troubled man's "civil rights advocate, spiritual guide and guardian angel" during an interview with Radio Netherlands Worldwide.
Holloway, who was from Alabama, went missing in 2005 during a trip with friends in Aruba.
After it was revealed that she had met van der Sloot shortly before going missing, he was vigorously questioned.
Due to a combination of witness evidence and inconsistent testimony, van der Sloot quickly became a prime suspect in Holloway's disappearance.
Five years after Holloway's tragic disappearance, Stephanie Flores was found dead in van der Sloot's Peruvian hotel room.
His lawyer confirmed earlier this year that his client will plead guilty to killing Flores, and the trial is expected to begin next month.
Sources suggest Hamer is convinced that the U.S. Justice Department is conspiring against van der Sloot, so she feels obligated to help him.
"I have a very strong feeling about protecting. It’s a very deep natural instinct of mine that is driving me - not driving me, but allowing me the freedom - to help Joran," Hamer said.
