Galaxy Note 3 Rumors: Device to Launch With LCD and AMOLED Displays
The latest Galaxy Note 3 rumors point to two different versions of the device launching including one with an AMOLED display and the other with LCD.
Samsung normally uses AMOLED displays on its Note line, but now the company is considering using LCD for part of its production of the phablet, according to the Korean publication Daum. The reason behind the shift is that AMOLED displays no longer offer Samsung a branding benefit.
The company has been producing more devices with AMOLED displays in recent months and Samsung's top priority for the screens at this time is the Galaxy S4. It also began offering OLED TVs and now Samsung Display can't keep up with AMOLED production as fast as Samsung Electronics has been able to sell smartphones and televisions.

Another reason Samsung could ditch AMOLED at this point is that the company no longer needs the technology as a selling point for its devices. The Galaxy brand has grown immensely in the past two years and now could stand on its own no matter what type of display Samsung decides to use.
If Samsung does end up using LCDs for the Galaxy Note 3, they will be produced by Sharp. The display company seems to be in a bit of trouble and Samsung has a minority share there.
The Galaxy Note 8.0 is now available in brown for customers in the U.S.
The company confirmed this new color earlier this month. The 16GB model with Wi-Fi retails for $399.99 and can be purchased from Best Buy, Buy Dig and B&H photo video.
The device might also be released in red sometime in the near future, however, that version has not been confirmed yet.
The tablet was launched by Samsung earlier this year to compete with Apple's wildly successful iPad Mini, which is around the same size. One of the main selling points of the Galaxy Note 8 is its S Pen stylus accessory, which can also be found on the original Galaxy Note and Note 2.
