Galaxy S5 Release Date Scheduled for April, Samsung Confirms
The Galaxy S5 release date will be sometime around April.
The Executive Vice President of Samsung's mobile division Lee Young Hee recently revealed in an interview with Bloomberg that the device will be available by April 2014.
He also stated that the company is "studying the possibility" of including an iris-recognition security system that will scan the users eye in order to unlock the device. This technology is said to be faster and more secure than the Touch ID fingerprint sensor found on the iPhone 5S.

Hee admitted that the S4 did not differentiate itself enough from the S3 in order to generate interest in the market.
"When we moved to S4 from S3, it's partly true that consumers couldn't really feel much difference between the two products from the physical perspective, so the market reaction wasn't as big," she said. "For the S5, we will go back to the basics. Mostly, it's about the display and the fell of the cover."
The flexible display that is rumored for the Galaxy S5 is currently under review, according to the Samsung exec, who also stated that he would be surprised if one was featured on the handset at launch.
A curved version could end up being released after the original model. This information should be taken with a grain of salt as Samsung has not confirmed this news.
Designers known as Rozetked recently created a concept video for the Galaxy S5 that featured the device with a fingerprint sensor slightly different from Apple's.
The designers chose to alter the name a bit, calling it Reach ID. They also changed it significantly from Apple's fingerprint sensor as the device could be accessed by touching it anywhere instead of just on the home button. Users will be able to put their finger on any part of the screen to unlock it.
