Giuliana Rancic on Motherhood: It's 'Everything and More'

Giuliana Rancic has opened up about what life is like for she and her husband Bill following the arrival of their son Edward Duke in August.

The 37-year-old E! News anchor was struggling to get pregnant when she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. Just when she was attempting in-vitro fertilization, Rancic was forced to undergo a double mastectomy.

Now cancer free, Rancic and her husband welcomed their son via surrogate on Aug. 29.

After trying to start a family and undergoing fertility treatments and then facing cancer, Rancic said being a mom to Edward, now one month old, is "awesome."

"I knew it was going to be great, especially because we worked so hard at having a baby and we wanted a baby so bad, but it's even better than I expected," she said while speaking to Parade magazine. "He's really opening his eyes now, and when he opens his eyes and stares at you for 10 minutes at a time while you're feeding him, you just realize why there's that mother-son bond and I say to myself: 'How am I ever going to say no to this kid!' He's got me. It's everything I had hoped for and more."

The happy new mother added that even the lack of sleep is enjoyable because of the new baby.

"I think the biggest surprise is probably enjoying those overnight feedings," she said, according to the magazine. "I love them and look forward to them because I get to spend time with the baby."

Rancic reflected that her positive attitude made for her incredible resilience that led her to baby Edward.

"I remember getting diagnosed last September, and it's fair to say that it was the worst day of my life, yet three weeks ago, I had the best day of my life, seeing my baby boy come into the world," she explained.

"It just really teaches you so much about how resilient we are, and how strong we are," Rancic continued. "If you just stay positive, if you can just believe that there is a reason bad things are happening, some good can come out of it and you try to do good with what's happening to you. There will be a light at the end of the tunnel."

In addition to staying busy with baby Edward, this October, Rancic is observing National Breast Cancer Awareness month with extra care.

"Having been through cancer, I know how important it is to live each day to the fullest," said the reality television star speaking to New York Daily News.

Many stars including Rancic, Vanessa Hudgens, and Fran Drescher have signed merchandise for sale with 20 percent of the proceeds headed toward the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
