Greene, 32, made the announcement on Instagram about his place of worship opening its doors next August in South Carolina.

"It's About to Go Dooooown!!! So excited about the Official Launch of Forward City Church @4wardcity on 8/21/16," the message reads. "Mark your calendars & get to Columbia, SC!!!! More info coming soon."

The Grammy-nominated singer known for hits like "Intentional" received support from other gospel singers turned pastors. Pastor William McDowell from the Deeper Fellowship Church in Orlando, Florida, happens to be a good friend and fellow gospel singer of Green.

McDowell expressed his excitement for the venture on social media.

"My great friend @travisgreenetv will have his official launch August 21st," McDowell wrote on Instagram. "So excited for he and his family and the @4wardcity family!"

Pastor Deitrick Haddon, the gospel singer who heads Hill City Church in Los Angeles, California, also took to Instagram to congratulate his peer.

"Congrats to my brother @travisgreenetv for obeying the call and launching the new ministry," Haddon wrote. "If you're looking for a church with a fresh word in Columbia Sc go to #forwardcitychurch."

Last month, Greene spoke to Jet Magazine about Forward City.

"Forward City just started having public gatherings this year, however, we've been pouring into leaders and training for almost two years now. God has really surrounded us with people who are like-minded who sacrifice and go as hard as we do," he revealed. "It's a huge honor to lead them. We're really passionate about the college ministry at Forward City, too. It's probably one of our major outreach initiatives."

The singer and pastor explained why college ministry was so important to him.

"My wife and I met in a college ministry at Georgia Southern University, and our lives were radically changed forever. So because of that, and knowing those vulnerable years of college, it really inspired us to want to make a difference on college campuses here in Columbia South Carolina and abroad," he said. "August 21st is our official launch where we will shift to Sunday services. Right now, we meet on Mondays at the Agape Conference Center in downtown Columbia. But, we've been in prayer about finding a permanent location somewhere downtown where we can continue reaching the college students."
