iOS 5 Release Date: Apple to Launch in 2 Weeks

Apple is set to make its iOS 5 available to customers in just two weeks time, according to ComputerWorld.com.

According to the site, all the recent signs given by the company point to the week of October 10, with reports focused on October 12 as the official release date of the new operating system.

The reason the site is predicting this date is mostly because Apple has a reputation of releasing its new operating system within weeks of launching a new device.

The company is holding an event on October 4 in which its CEO Tim Cook will unveil the new iPhone which is set to run on iOS 5.

Apple issued invitations to its “Let’s Talk About iPhone” event earlier this week.

Apple just may be repeating the same schedule it used for launching the iPad 2 which was announced one week earlier than its official release.

With an October 4 unveiling, there is a strong possibility of customers getting their hands on the highly anticipated device one week later, around the 10 or 12 of the month.

According to several websites, the tech giant has restricted vacation days for its retail store employees for the periods Oct. 9 to Oct. 12 and Oct 14 to Oct 15.

This is a good sign that the company is planning the release of a new product expected to require all hands on deck from Apple’s employees.

Due to the Apple’s anticipation of questions for its new operating system, the company may be blocking out the first period of time to handle customer’s inquiries on iOS 5 that could launch on October 10.

But if the new iPhone is released on Oct 14, the second blocked period, iOS 5 will probably be available on October 11 or 12.
