iOS 7 Jailbreak Issues Addressed in Open Letter by Evad3rs Development Team

The iOS 7 Evasi0n untethered jailbreak recently rolled out for iPhone and iPad owners.

Cydia administrator Jay Freeman took to his Twitter account this week to address some of his issues with the new Evasi0n jailbreak, stating that he was not informed about the new version before its release and that when installed it will automatically bring a third party app store to the device known as Taig which distributes cracked apps in China.

Developer i0n1c took to Twitter to state that Taig paid the Evad3rs "a big pile of money" to release the jailbreak with its app included in the bundle.

The Evad3rs team responded to the controversy by posting an open letter to the jailbreak community on its website addressing the various concerns surrounding the method and emphasizing its safety.

The team admitted that it was approached with the offer to include Taig's app in the bundle made for the Chinese market and claimed it was a good fit to meet users needs in the region. They also stated that users are not locked into the app as it gives them the ability to uninstall it and install Cydia instead.

The developers also claimed that they did not know that Taig included pirated apps upon access and they are currently removing instances of piracy. Taig contractually agreed not to do this. Evad3rs promised to continually monitor the issue and will work to resolve it completely. The app store will be completely removed if this issue cannot be resolved in an orderly fashion.

The Evasi0n jailbreak rolled out for iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, and iPad Air users last week. It is compatible with any Apple device running iOS 7. Jailbreaking is legal at this time and allows users to access apps for free. It also can void the warrantee on a device.
