Yahoo's magazine app was scheduled for a June 2011 launch, but it was delayed to verify the app’s speed.

"It took a while to get it right," said Blake Irving, chief product officer for Yahoo.

Around 100 publications can be viewed though Yahoo's app that will gain revenue through the sales of interactive ads within the publications it hosts. In 2012, Yahoo will try increase revenue by selling subscriptions to publications.

"Our focus, our strategy remains consistent - to bring deeply personal experiences to consumers around the world. We're uniquely positioned to deliver this,” Irving said.

Techland, a technology website, expressed their thoughts on Yahoo's latest venture: "If Yahoo remains independent, Livestand may become a key piece of Yahoo's latest comeback attempt. It represents Yahoo's first major step toward building products primarily aimed at mobile devices before adapting them for desktop computers."

Yahoo also unveiled other new apps at its campus event.

A new Yahoo Mail app, designed for the iPad 2, will potentially drive traffic to other Yahoo products. This will happen through Yahoo's effort to bring personalized news and weather into the app, along with photos from the Flickr photograph-sharing website and popular videos from around the Web.

Yahoo showed off its personalized weather app for smartphones running on Google's Android operating system. This application brings in real-time images on Flickr that displays the current weather in a user's city.

Irving said Yahoo's new products are a sign of the company's continued business efforts.

"We still have dreams about what this company can be," he added.
