iPhone 5: Never Run Out of Battery?

There's a new product that one young entrepreneur is introducing to the U.S. for iPhone users – a stylish clutch that will charge your phone on the go. The buzz around the "Everpurse" comes just after Apple unveiled its iPhone 5.

"Never worry about running out of power again! Charge your phone, all day, right in your purse," says the promo for the product.

With positive reviews, the Everpurse currently has 559 backers and pledges so far totaling over $77,000 (with the goal of $100,000) on Kickstarter, a funding platform for creative projects.

Liz Salcedo came up with the idea for the technology-advanced and fashionable purse. The 27-year-old from Chicago was coming across the same problem many iPhone users were having – running out of battery in the middle of the day.

With the help of her husband who created the wireless charging device, Salcedo sewed that device in a purse and from that point on, her phone was charged all day long.

"My husband (a serial technology entrepreneur and prototyping enthusiast) and I (a social worker) started building Everpurse for fun over a year ago. It began as a quest to make the perfect purse," she says on the Kickstarter website. "One that would let me go through the whole day without ever thinking about charging my phone. It also had to look gorgeous. I was tired of awful charging solutions that were bulky, ugly, and simply a pain to use. Many prototypes and iterations later, we've gotten it down to a beautiful science!"

How does it work?

First, the purse itself needs to be charged. You simply place the purse on a small charging mat (takes about six hours to fully charge, according to cnet.com).

Then the purse is ready for your iPhone. The phone fits into a small pocket in the Everpurse where it is fed battery life.

"Our patent-pending docking system guides your phone smoothly onto a dock connector at the bottom-so you don't have to fish for a cord!"

It can charge your iPhone from 0 percent to 100 percent twice over, the creators say.

The cost for the Everpurse is $129 for the fabric version and $159 for the leather one.

Once they have the full $100,000 pledged, the creators of the Everpurse plan to manufacture purses for the iPhone 4 and 5 as well as Android phones and have it ready by March 2013.
