iPhone 5 Release Date: Apple Start Preorders for iPhone 4S (VIDEO)
Sprint, Apple and other national mobile retailers on Friday launched the pre-order process for the Apple iPhone 4S. That means everybody who wants one is trying to get their hands on information about just how to go about getting their hands on Apple's latest iPhone model.
Even though there is disappointment from potential customers that Apple did not unveil an iPhone 5, diehard fans still want to upgrade for a few very good reasons.
The device is described as having: a dual-core A5 chip, all-new 8MP camera and optics, iOS 5 and iCloud, and Siri, a totally new interactive voice-activated task feature. Siri is like having a personal assistant that allows users to ask direct questions like, “Will I need an umbrella today?”

On social the social networking site, Twitter, queries about the iPhone 4S were among its top searches, as was so was the term "iPhone 4S Pre-Orders," both ranked top ten on the Twitter’s Trend list Friday morning.
Most questions and comments on Twitter appeared to be re-tweets of announcements on pre-orders, from retailers selling the iPhone 4S, and disappointment from fans who would not be able to purchase the much-coveted smartphone.
The iPhone 4s should be in users' hands Oct. 14 and is available for pre-order by Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, and in the UK, T-Mobile and Vodafone.
The iPhone 4S retails for $199 on Apple.com, with a two-year wireless service contract. The iPhone 4S is also available for order through Apple.com.
