iPhone 5 Release Date October 7?

The iPhone 5 will be released on October 7, with preorders for the device starting on September 30, according to tech website 9to5 Mac.

Website, TiPB was the first to report the date, and 9to5 Mac confirmed the date with its sources, although Apple has not yet made an official announcement. It had been believed that the company was debating whether the iPhone 5 should drop on October 7 or 14.

The tech site stated that Apple’s pre-mass-production of the next generation iPhone is moving along nicely, so it will probably lean towards an earlier release.

As far as preorders, the site confirms a late September start, but states that Apple is pondering whether to begin on Thursday 29, or Friday 30, September. According to their sources, the 30th of the month is the likelier date.

Two new versions of the iPhone are rumored to drop in the fall, including a cheaper prepaid version of the iPhone 4, along with the iPhone 5, according to numerous sources.

The iPhone 5 should feature Apple’s dual-core A5 processor, an eight megapixel camera and iOS5.

In addition to the new hardware, the device should also sport a powerful voice-based navigation system and panorama photography capabilities, according to 9to5 Mac.

Rumors of the device’s exterior include a brand new design which gives the phone a thinner look with a larger screen.

Apple has chosen not to leak any specifics about the next generation iPhone, but cases were leaked on the internet leading to this design assumption.

Other reports state the iPhone 5 will closely resemble the iPhone 4.

Over the past few months, cases for the device have surfaced, along with pictures of an Apple employee testing a device that tech experts claim could be the iPhone 5.

9to5 Mac has reported that the release date can still change, but it are confident in its sources, and state October 7 is the likely drop date for the next generation iPhone.
