iPhone 7 Rumors: Dual Lens Rear Camera Planned for Next-Gen Smartphone
Rumors have emerged Apple may create its first iPhones with dual lens cameras when its next-gen iPhone 7 hits the market.
According to reports out of Taiwan, Apple may yet come up with dual lens rear cameras for its upcoming iPhone 7 after having investigated the technology for the last three years.
Altek CEO Xiaru Wen, whose company produces dual lens camera systems for Huawei and HTC, has been quoted as saying Apple has been looking into software to support dual lens technology to adopt a similar setup for its future smartphones, Phone Arena writes.

Apple was recently awarded a patent by the USPTO in July 2013 based on documentation describing dual sensor cameras.
Previously, Apple was hampered from integrating the dual lens technology after supplier yields were unable to meet its much higher production requirements. The technology giant also discovered some technical issues with blurred photos due to optical axis deviation.
According to Taiwanese Business Weekly reports, LinX Imaging, an Israeli company Apple acquired for $20 million in April this year, has been able to solve the blurring issue with a software fix.
The same report claimed that Largan Precision, Apple's main supplier of camera lenses, has committed to double its production, which sparked rumors Apple will be integrating a dual lens camera on their upcoming iPhone 7 series once the supply chain problem is solved.
If the rumors are true and the iPhone 7 will come equipped with two rear cameras, it will be going head to head with HTC and Samsung, who are said to be planning the same dual lens technology setup on their upcoming flagship models.
The iPhone 7 is allegedly going to feature significant design changes from its predecessor, the iPhone 6S, as well as adding 12MP sensors to its cameras.
