Janet Jackson Dispute Over Paris' Movie Role: 'You're Only a Child Once'

Janet Jackson is in a fierce dispute with her family over a film role Michael Jackson's daughter, Paris, has accepted. Janet is said to be "furious" that 14 year old Paris will be taking on the film role and has been stunned that the family is letting her go ahead with it.

According to a source to Us Weekly, Paris Jackson has accepted a role in the 2014 film Lundon's Bridge and the Three Keys.

Janet Jackson, however, is a fervent believer in maintaining her brother, pop legend Michael Jackson's wishes at the forefront of all decisions concerning his children. She allegedly believes that Michael would have wanted to continue to keep his kids out of the spotlight, and certainly would not have encouraged them to take on film roles.

Michael Jackson famously shielded his three children from the limelight; his kids were often just seen with a blanket or jacket over their heads when out in public, showing the extent he would go to ensure they could have as normal a childhood as possible - something Jackson said he was never able to have.

"She feels it goes against Michael's wishes to keep his kids out of the the limelight until age 18," the insider has told Us Weekly.

Janet Jackson believes that her brother would have wanted his children to remain as children for as long as possible, and that at 14 years of age, the role has come too early for Paris.

"Janet thinks Paris should enjoy being a kid and possibly go to college," the Us Weekly source added.

However, Paris is adamant that she is ready to step out more and more into the spotlight now and she is eager to take on the film role. The source even claims that Paris is "hoping for more roles" in the future.

The arguments over the best course of action have caused a "huge dispute" in the Jackson household, the source has said. But Janet has consistently emphasized to Paris and her brothers that she will only be a child once and she should wait a few more years and enjoy her private life and teenage years first before stepping out.
