Jeremy Lin Solicits Prayers for Injured Teammate Iman Shumpert on Twitter
Jeremy Lin, New York Knicks starting point guard who is rehabilitating his own injury, took to Twitter to solicit prayers for his teammate Iman Shumpert who tore his ACL in the first game of the playoffs.
Shumpert, 21-year-old rookie Knicks guard who also serves as the team's best perimeter defender, tore both his ACL and lateral meniscus during the team's 100-67 loss to the Miami Heat on Saturday. According to ESPN, the injury could keep Shumpert off the court for six to eight months.
Lin, who also suffered from a lateral meniscus injury, took to his Twitter. "Please pray for a speedy recovery for Iman Shumpert," Lin tweeted to over 700,000 followers.

The sentiment was felt by others on Twitter, who also offered prayers to Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls starting guard, who also suffered a knee injury during his playoff game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.
Austin Rivers, Duke University shooting guard and the son of Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers, also offered his prayers for Shumpert on the social media network.
"Everybody please pray for Derrick Rose and Iman Shumpert! Two great players who suffered injuries today! Pray for speedy recovery! God bless."
Adonal Foyle, former Orlando Magic player, who currently serves as the director of player development on the team, also offered his prayers to the players.
"Get well soon; D Rose and Iman Shumpert," Foyle tweeted. "Both out for the season, Wow! Pray for our players."
Fans of Shumpert also showed their support for the injured player on Twitter.
"I'm really sad about Shumpert. So let us pray for Shumpert," the fan tweeted. "And I trust that God will bless Shumpert."
Shumpert seemed to appreciate the support from his fans and peers on Twitter and tweeted his thanks.
