Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, first took office in 2013, the year Lieberman’s final term in the U.S. Senate expired. He shared his thoughts about Lieberman’s death and legacy in a post on X Wednesday.

Describing Lieberman as “a statesman who earned the respect of people from across the political spectrum,” Cruz praised “his contributions to America and to our policy debates” as “undeniable.” He expressed “condolences” to Lieberman’s “wife Hadassah and the rest of his family,” adding, “May his memory be a blessing.”
