Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., who replaced Lieberman in the U.S. Senate after he opted not to seek a fourth term, took to X Wednesday to mourn his predecessor’s “sudden passing.”

According to Murphy, “In an era of political carbon copies, Joe Lieberman was a singularity.”

“He fought and won for what he believed was right and the state he adored,” Murphy continued. “My thoughts are with Hadassah and the entire family.”
