Jordin Sparks opened up about her recent split from Jason Derulo on Monday and the actress revealed that she is "moving on" with her life.

The 24-year-old "Left Behind" star is currently promoting her latest film around the U.S., and during an appearance on "The Today Show" she addressed the drama surrounding her personal life. Derulo, 25, confirmed their shocking split on Thursday.

"The funny thing is that I read this book the other day. Actually, it was yesterday," Sparks said on the NBC morning show. "It said when something unexpected happens in your life or you think something bad is happening, just say 'plot twist' and move on.'"

Her statement came just as Derulo shared details on what exactly pushed them apart. False reports claim the "Wiggle" singer cheated, however, he confirmed that their problems actually stemmed from "pressure" to settle down.

"I'm not one to throw my business out on the street, but I thought it was important because things are getting a little out of hand. I'm seeing all kind of stories about somebody getting pregnant, infidelity ... So I thought it was important for me to call in and clear the air," he said during an interview with "On Air with Ryan Seacrest."

The couple began dating back in Sept. 2011, and Sparks once shared that they did have discussions about marriage.

"What happened … in a nutshell, there was a lot of tension in the relationship for a lot of different reasons," Derulo explained. "Every relationship has ups and downs. There was a lot of pressures of marriage. There was a lot of arguing, and stuff like that just weighed on our relationship over time. When you stop having more good times than bad times, it's time to call it quits. It becomes something that is unhealthy."

Derulo also admitted they are not on good terms.

"I wouldn't say good terms," he said. "I'll be lying if I said that, but it's not a bad situation. There's no bad blood. We didn't end off on a weird way or a negative way. It's not like we're hitting each other up, like, 'Hey, what are you doing today?'"

Both Derulo and Sparks, who won "American Idol" in season 6, are said to be focused on work at this point.
