'Kevin Can Wait' Star Leah Remini News: Actress Won't Be Hooking Up With Kevin James's Character
Sad news for fans shipping Vanessa Cellucci (Leah Remini) and Kevin Gable (Kevin James) in CBS' sitcom "Kevin Can Wait" as it appears they aren't meant to be. This is despite Kevin's character being single in season 2 following the death of his wife (Erinn Hayes).
In a recent interview with Yahoo, James and Remini revealed the answer to the question that has consumed many viewers: when will Kevin and Vanessa hook up? Unfortunately, the answer is never along with an explanation as to why.
"We did romantic already," said James. "I mean, I don't know how romantic we were on 'The King of Queens.'"

Fans began shipping James and Remini to recreate their tandem back in the 1998 sitcom "The King of Queens" where the two played husband and wife Doug Heffernan (James) and Carrie Heffernan (Remini). Their on-screen husband and wife duo was a hit with fans which probably explains why, when given the opportunity, fans wanted to ship their characters.
Instead of reviving their former duo, James says he is content with keeping himself in the friend zone with regards to his character's relationship with Vanessa.
"I like that I can be, like, a wingman for her," he says. "We can go out as buddies."
Still, he did leave some room for Kevin-Vanessa shippers. "You never know," he adds.
The last episode saw Vanessa trying to get Kevin to sign some important documents. She didn't exactly reveal their contents leaving many fans to speculate that it may be some sort of death certificate, an insurance policy in Donna's name, or maybe even a confession written in Kevin's voice she can use to blackmail Kevin and his family. It definitely doesn't add up.
"Kevin Can Wait" Episode 7 airs this Nov. 6 only on CBS.
